U Hrvatskoj su prošle godine od ukupnog broja zaposlenih osoba s invaliditetom 32% bile osobe s intelektualnim teškoćama.
Predsjednica Saveza Mirjana Jakovčev istaknula je da je zapošljavanje osoba s intelektualnim teškoćama u Hrvatskoj rijetkost te da se odvija otežano.

“Zbog svog intelektualnog statusa i nemogućnosti akademskog obrazovanja osobama s intelektualnim teškoćama ostaju rezervirana zanimanja srednjoškolskog obrazovanja”, rekla je predsjednica i naglasila da u segmentu njihova zapošljavanja veliku ulogu imaju udruge.

Stoga se Ured pravobraniteljice za osobe s invaliditetom zauzima za povećanje stope zaposlenosti osoba s intelektualnim teškoćama jer iskustva pokazuju da one, kad imaju ciljano odabrano radno mjesto i kada im se to mjesto prilagodi, mogu biti iznimno dobri radnici.
